Planning a hunt is part of the adventure. Here's our step-by-step guide to booking and preparing for your trip with Adventure Northwest.

1. Choose Your Species
Decide what you want to pursue — caribou, muskox, wolf, grizzly, polar bear or walrus. Each hunting package page covers the season, duration, what's included and what's not. Not sure? We'll help you match a hunt to your goals and budget.

2. Check Dates & Availability
Hunt dates are limited — especially grizzly and polar bear tags, which are strictly capped. Contact Adventure Northwest early to confirm availability for your preferred dates.

3. Understand Licences & Tags
All licences and tags are purchased on arrival at the hunting community, so you'll need valid identification and, for some hunts, a firearm permit. We'll walk you through exactly what applies to your hunt before you leave.

4. Plan Travel & Insurance
Most hunts start in Yellowknife. You're responsible for travel to Yellowknife and to the community, and we strongly recommend trip-cancellation insurance — Arctic weather can delay flights, so insurance protects your investment. We can point you toward coverage.

5. Prepare for the Arctic
Pack for variable conditions: warm, wind-proof layers, quality boots, a soft gun case for floatplane travel, and Canadian currency for trophy fees. Our FAQ answers common packing and logistics questions.
